The days leading up to a book release are hands down the most stressful part of indie-author life. Why? Because we have to do A TON of things ourselves, and that never-ending to-do list? Yeah, it somehow grows by the hour.
Over the years, I’ve learned to leave room for adjustments, hiccups, and the occasional chaos. Alas, this year’s release season is actually one of my favorites—because I’ve finally let go of chasing perfection. I’m also releasing part of a HUGE dream (hello, Whimstery!), so I’m giving myself a little grace. Especially since I’ve got lots of other books hitting shelves this year too.
Anyway, here’s what’s on deck today for Pretty Cruel Love and My Totally Unfair Deal:
- Push back both releases to June 20th (that’s next Friday instead of this one)—which gives me a little breathing room to do all the things (and do them right).
- Draft this week’s newsletters:
- One goes out Tuesday (or maybe Wednesday) to The F.L.Y. List
- A mid-week one for Whimstery Founders
- And another on Friday for the F.L.Y. List
- Set up pretty countdown graphics for social media. (Between us? I reallllyyy love crafting these. The prettier, the better 🙂)
- Finalize the ARC giveaway signup form + prep the ARC portal for the awesome early reviewers team.
- Complete the sexy-gif summary for My Totally Unfair Deal.
(The hardest part? Picking out the naughtiest gifs without giving away the story. Here’s the sexy gif summary I made for Pretty Cruel Love.) - Order mock paperbacks, then set up the final paperback versions —plus request bookmarks for My Totally UnFair Deal so they’re ready for the F.L.Y. Store during release week.
F.L.Y. + Happy Monday + See you tomorrow with more updates!
