OMGGGGG.…

Have you ever accidentally sent an embarrassing image of yourself to someone you TOTALLY didn’t intend? How about sending a message that was meant for someone else? Or maybe emailing the WRONG version of something you were super excited about…until you realized you uh…sent the wrong version?

No?

Just me?

Gahhh. 

Well, to be honest, I’ve been doing so much stuff behind the scenes (totally not complaining because OMGGGG we have some AWESOMENESS ahead), that in my last blog post that featured a sneak peek of chapter 1, It was the naked version. So, I feel quite exposed. (And kinda idiot-ish)

I’m all for starting a book with some funny dialogue, but if you’ve read my books before, you know that I like to set the tone with at least a sentence or two, so we kinda know where we are in the story.

Like, hey Whit! Where are we??? Who are these people randomly talking and moving about? LOL

Alas, the real opening for I WISH I WOULD’VE CHOSEN YOU goes a *little* something like this:

The Amtrak train shakes violently against the steel tracks, rattling the car so hard I nearly tumble to the floor.

“Ladies and gentlemen,” the speaker system announces, “this train will be stopping at South Station. If this is your final destination, please check to make sure you have all your belongings before exiting.”

Standing, I make sure my Phillips Exeter Academy ID card is still tucked deep inside my bra before grabbing my bag and slipping outside into the rain.

8:17. 9:29. 10:11, 10:29.

I commit those takeoff times to mind as I walk, assuring myself that as long as I sneak back onto campus before midnight, I can continue making weekend trips to Boston and cosplaying as a college student. Anything to hang out with people who don’t think it’s “weird as hell” to be obsessed with books.

See? There’s like a setting. And a scene. 🙂

Some of that other stuff you read before is still in there. It’s just written in a prettier way. (At least, I hope you think so when you get it during release week)
